Hello Andrew & Mark
Candy dryer now working
Husband and I unable to find the problem after having the back of the dryer off.
So phoned local repair man on Monday.Have used him before to mend my washing machine.
It was a cutout switch on the filter. which is located on the side of the heater at the back of the dryer it took him 15mins to repair
and cost me £35. Very please with outcome.

Hi Rosie,
I have the same problem and got in touch with the Hoover/Candy service line. The bloke there advised me that it was the heater element that had gone and a new one would solve both problems.
Once I work out how to get to the wiring connector block I'll let you know how I get on.
