Hurricane Ike - No matter what I use, Refrigerator smells?

I'm a NEW nurse (23 yrs. old) in Houston. New to the Houston area (from Abilene). I have never experienced a Tornado or Hurricane. Under the circumstances, working before the Hurricane and being locked down at Texas Childrens Hospital, I wasn't thinking about cleaning out my refrigerator or freezer before the Hurricane. I just got my Electricty back on Sunday, Sept.21 and my refrigerator smells terrible.

This is an apt. refrigerater and freezer. I've used Clorox wipes and Baking soda, but both my freezer and refrigerator smell terrible.

My question is PLEASE PLEASE help me in what to do for the smell!!

Went through this with Katrina - try open saucers of white vinegar, or coffee grounds. I also used Citrus Scent Odor absorbing gel containers I got at Home Depot. They are in the cleaning supply section, they come in citrus or vanilla scents. I cleaned the fridge with bleach and hot soapy water, dried it and then closed those in the fridge, with nothing else in it. I left those in for a few weeks before the odor was gone. It's been three years and no lingering smells of Katrina. Good luck and hang in there, patience is required.

try plaing a saucer of salt and half a lemon in ! the salt is supposed to absorb the small and the lemon make it fresh !
good luck
