clothes dryer won't produce heat?

I just moved. My electric dryer is only 2 years old. It's a Sears. My friend hitched it up. I ran it for quite some time but the dryer doesn't even get warm. Any suggestions?

Hi Rachel,

Sometimes dryers will operate on two circuit breakers. It will run on one breaker but produce no heat.

Check your electrical panel and find out which breakers (or fuses) operate your dryer. One may be tripped, so reset both breakers and go from there. It worked for me.

If it is only 2 years old, not usual for an element to go on it unless you have been giving it a hard life. There could be a number of reasons for no heat. Maybe a wire has come off during your recent move. Possibly a timer or electronic controller fault. On some dryers, if the belt breaks or comes off then the heat will stop even though you can hear the motor turning. Check to see if the drum is turning, if not then the belt may have come off.
