Dipstick Problem ?

I have a Peugeot 206 (yr 2000) and cannot get the oil dipstick back in, there appears to be an obstruction, anyone any ideas why & how to overcome - thanks

just force it in it will go

try rotating the dipstick a sometimes they only go in a particular way round
