why is my dryer not heating? ?

It sounds like the thermostat is away on it. Tumble dryers just cut out if they go beyond a certain temperature and will not work again until the thermostat is replaced.Well thats my understanding as is what has happened twice with ours and has been two service calls for a new thermostat. You must be putting in too many clothes in to dry at a high temperature (I know thats certainly what we do with ours!). Also if you put synthetics/metal zips etc in on a the highest setting to dry, they heat up too much too, which I also believe contributes to the overheating problem!
