Hw can i repair my suffolk punch?

got suffolk punch wont start,it's getting fuel, plenty of compression, you get a good belt off it if you hold the plug but doesn't seem to be a spark. Any ideas?

Plenty of compression is not anything to do with it.The plug must be faulty if you get 'a good belt'
If it still won't start after changing plug, it is the ignition unit.
Latest models have electronic units, while the earlier ones have points. Remove flywheel this exposes the cover of the ignition unit. Remove, and then remove points-dismantle and clean with emery. Re-set at 30 thousand. Rebuild.

i reset the points got agreat spark now,it will run for a couple of seconds then stop,i set the top screw out 1 and a quarter turns and trying the side screw at all angles just cant get that one set to where it should be any ideas

Try a new plug. The existing one may have developed a high-resistance short.

By definition there must be a spark if you get a good belt from it- where do you think the "good belt" is coming from then?
