Laptop Keyboard not typing correct keys ?

When I am typing on my laptop certain keys do not work. It seems to the keys associated with the function key as if the function key is on and when I the the letter j I get a number that indicated on the letter j key also.

I'm not to knowledgable with computers so I hope that I explained myself well enough. Thanks for any help

Spot on JB.

But please do it while its switched off!
A spinning hard disk takes very little to crash its heads.

have you tried going into your keyboard setting , it may be set in a different setting than english , you can also try re-installing the driver if it came with one.

Your function key is stuck down. If it's a stand alone keyboard give it a sharp bang on the desk. Dont go daft though.
