zanussi jetsystem 1000
midway thru washing shows prompt E20 and stops washing, What causes this? how can I fix it

My Zanussi manual suggests it may be a problem with the water not draining and could be one of the following:the drain hose may be squashed or kinked, the RINSE HOLD option has been selected; the wash load is unbalanced in which case redistribute the clothes inside the drum to allow the drum to spin; the drain filter may be blocked, or the drainage system may be blocked.
