land rover 1998 radio code?

lost my radio code for a land rover 1998
jean bateaw, September 2008
I had this on my 1995 Discovery. Land Rover could not help so I went to a local In car entertainment centre with the radio in the vehicle and they decoded it for me there and then.

There is no other way to get the code other than driving down to your local car spares or garage that deals with radio codes.

Don't bother to do what Regworts says your wasting your time. The coding or re-coding can only be done legally while the radio is in the vehicle in it's correct position, you also have to take proof of ownership registration document and a utility bill to match the address. They won't do it otherwise. Sorry Regworts but, I know, been there done that. Took radio only to shop and they sent me packing[ Even though they knew me] to put the radio back in the car and bring the vehicle in as they treat un-attached radios as stolen to safe guard themselves. Cost for this service is around £12
