Why can I hear no one when I'm on the phone?

I've recently noticed that when I make a phone call or someone phones me, I cannot hear anything from the other end, yet others can hear me. Is this to do with the microphone/speaker?

Probably the speaker dont know if you can fix this yourself, better to take it to a mobile phone shop they will give you a better idea.
