Why wont my lawnmower start!?!?

I used to be able to prime it and it would start and then die. It will not even start now no matter how many times i prime it! Its not that old and i am really confused. Please help?..?

Need engine type to offer specific help - but if it's a carb-on-the-tank type, a carb diaphragm will probably sort it out.
