My Renault Megane Scenic is playing up. It's MPG has dropped by 5 mpg to 27 mpg, the engine stops occasionally when I come to a stop (a pain at junctions, I can tell you) and it occasionally feels like the clutch is being pressed (a sudden deceleration, accompanied by a wildly fluctuating rev counter) when I'm progressing. Any thoughts?

Hello Ido-not much more to say-it only occasionally does the fluctuating rev counter and feeling like the clutch being pressed thing in fifth, and only then when it's going some...(60-70mph or so) I've tried cleaning the carb using an additive. it also sometimes refuses to start, unless I have the accelerator pressed about a third of the way down.
