How can I fix my 1998 R reg Renault scenic?

My scenic has developed a fault whereby when the temperature gauge gets to mid/normal, the speedo stops working. Can't find any loose connections on the dashboard or elsewhere, can anyone suggest a solution? thanks.

you need to check the earths on the engine, and check them correctly , if they are ok , then check the block connector behind the kick panel on the drivers side footwell area, and then check the block connector in the engine bay on the n/s under the black plastic cover, make sure there are no corrded terminals, also check if there is a speedo sensor on the back of the gearbox and if so you need to check the connector and terminals,if not one fitted this means the speed info comes from the abs computer.hope this helps
