ford focus 1.8 zetec revs when im braking?

I have a ford focus 1.8 zetec. The car is fine apart from the fact that when i dip the clutch and brake, the engine carries on with the revs for a few seconds. It normally just goes up to about 1800-2200 rpm. I have already had the air flow meter replaced and this hasnt worked. Can anybody help?

You need a new accelerator cable. They are about £25 from Ford Dealership, only takes about 30mins to fit. I have just done mine last week on a 98 reg focus.

Check that the throttle cable, linkage or pedal is not sticking.
