Either a wire from a bra or a child's pipe cleaner has gone through the holes in our hotpoint WT960 drum. It is still turning but leaving black marks on the washing. Is there any way of removing the object without calling an engineer out?

Unplug the washing machine and disconnect the hoses, turn the washing machine on its side and remove the drain hose from the bottom of the drum.
With any luck you should be able to see the wire to pull it out with some pliers.
Just did the job myself took about 1 hour.
