when i try to download pictures the pc say there is no camera connected. I have done this before but have not had a problem. When I plug the lead into the camera and then into the pc it says one moment but then does not recognise that the camera is there. I have placed the disc in but it still does not recognise the images on the camers

Try uninstalling all software and drivers. Then instal again but don't plug camera in until finished, then plug into computer first then camera
