leaking white knight 767?

is there supposed to be a blanking cap on the back of the dryer because no water goes into the bottle it just leakes down a pipe at the back and into a tactically placed washing up bowl, when i try and squeeze the pipe to stop the water dripping down it leaks from the bottom,help

the pipe is already connected at the top but loose on the other end, should it be like that

the hose at the back can be connected directly to a waste outlet or connects to a valve on the back near the mains lead.this will then feed water into bottle
