my new house has Scantronic 9427 style fitted no instructions?

I moved into a new house (3yrs old) and the system fitted is a Scantronic 9427 style, I have the code but despite many attempts to switch it off and reset it as soon as I connect the Battery or Power it goes off, any solution to this problem.
