WHY IS MY V-VECTRA,(S)REG GOING INTO SAFE MODE?

MY V-VECTRA KEEPS GOING INTO SAFE MODE. WHEN ENGINE TURNED OFF FOR 5 MINS, THEN RE-STARTED IS O.K AND OUT OF SAFEMODE. IS THIS AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM OR ENGINE OVERHEATING? HELP!!

Hi, mine did the same thing, I found a big split in the air induction pipe just after the sensers it was round the back and hard to see. The new pipe was £25 and 20 mins to fit. runs fine now

I had this problem with my Vectra. It was the camshaft sensor that caused the problem. Once replaced 9 months ago, i have not had any trouble.

I had a similar prob with my Vectra..... Engine light on, loss of power, turn it off then start it again and it would be ok for a short while. Does it do it when you load the engine; going uphill, flooring the accelerator etc? If yes then its most likely the air flow meter.
