Sorry, I hit the wrong button, this should have been a question.

When I open my hot tap the boiler takes a long time to kick in. Sometimes I have to open two taps.
Could it be a sticking pressure valve or a problem with the three way valve?

HI all. I have problem with Chaff MINIMA boiler.
Ariston have engineers but not in my area and will not travel. So need help! When boiler fires up the flue pipes blow apart at joints. I can only think this is due to late combustion of the gas? Any one come across this before and know the fix so I can get an engineer in to do work.

Stacy, I hope you sorted your problem with your boiler however here is the way to increase the pressure in the system.
Look for a braided flexi-pipe with a black lever arm connected between the rising/incoming cold mains water pipe{15mm/1/2in} and the central heating pipe{22mm/3/4in}
this is located just below the boiler in most cases.
Open the valve with the lever arm and observe the pressure dial indicator then close the valve completely when the pressure is 1.5, do not go any higher than this.
If after a short period of time (a few days or so)the pressure drops to zero again then you have another fault which requires attention(poss failed expansion vessel) and you will require the services of a qualified heating engineer.

I have a similar problem. There is a black turn knob underneath which is the water in-take valve. Open that a little bit and watch the pressure rise to abot 2. Then close the knob(I THINK you are supposed to close it .... 99% sure but not 100% sure).
ANyways, that should restore the pressure.
