Try the high tension leads(Dont know what level of D.I.Y you are so I will go through it as simply as i can ). A quick troubleshooting procedure is start the car, open the bonnet and start with the 1st plug lead on the left hand side of the engine. pull it off and the engine should begin to struggle even more put the lead back on. Repeat it for each one of the leads until you take off a lead and the engine rev`s dont change this is a sign that paticular lead is damaged. They can also be called coil packs but basically they are the same thing. they are fairly easy to change but make sure to do one by one and dont cross them as it will missfire. Probably best to change the full set if they are not too expensive as they can go one after another. Hopes this helps.

Take a trip to a good garage and have it put on a computer, or if you have RAC cover, they'll come to you and do it for free. (i've used that service and they are excellent).
