how do i release spare wheel from ford galaxy?

the spare wheel mechanism is only coming down around three inches then starts to click .it will go back up but if i need to change wheel i will be in trouble any ideas .stuart.

I have similar trouble in releasing my spare wheel. I even took it to tyre fixers but no luck

The cable assembly may be corroded or dirty. Wind it out as long as it can go and pull on the tyre until it comes out.
