Reverse drum making terrible noise!?

My Hotpoint CTD40 tumble dryer was working apart from no heat coming out, so I tried the top tip on here i.e. unscrew back and pop pin out heating coil with hole in it and bingo had heat again....two days later the drum (am assuming) is making a dreadful noise/grind when slows down to do reverse action...help??

Had a similar problem, but mine was the front bearing pads (there were 4 on mine but slots for 5). Replaced these allong with the rear drum shaft and bearings for £45 and now runs sweet.

Chances are the rear bearing has worn and the shaft will be worn. Test this by removing small cover at back of dryer in centre of backplate and see if there is any movement up and down of the part which has a split pin through it. If there is you need to replace the bearing and possibly the drum shaft. Comes in a kit for about £12-£15
