replacing brushes on hotpoint wma58?

Hi- having just read previous questions and answers i suspect my hotpoint aquarius wma58 washing machime needs new brushes as it has stopped draining and spinning. can anyone please tell us how we do this- i am aware of the need to buy good quality replacement brushes but feel if it is a simple enogh procedure it doesn't merit paying for it to be done.

thanks in anticipation

the motor is at the bottom of the machine on the wma58s. how do I replace the brushes on this. Also how do I recognise which type of motor is fitted. Apparently, the type of brushes you have to buy, depend on the motor fitted????

Hi
Disconnect power supply, remove lid to access motor. Now there is a special tool that Hotpoint engineers use for brush removal, but they can be removed with a very small screwdriver! The idea is to release the plastic brush holder clip that locks the brushes to the motor, the slide out the brushes before finaly undoing electrical connection. The bottom brush is slightly more fiddly, if in doubt, it's easy enough to slacken the motor itself so it swings down to make access for the brushes easier!
Make sure the power supply has been turned off before you start tho! Good Luck
