the clutch on my escort is right on top of the pedal and has started to slip is there any adjustment or has it just had it?

If it is slipping then im afraid your clutch is worn out thats why its slipping.
Need to replace it but i would recommend you only use a brand new clutch from ford nothing else,otherwise chances are it will give you problems,ie not clearing properly,rattling
