the starter?

the starter in my 04 transit is not engaging to turn the engine but it is turning itself

The dual mass flywheel starts to break up which in turn jams the starter with metal filings causing the gear in the starter to not engage
Gearbox should be removed and bell housing cleaned before new stater fitted also flywheel should be checked FORD KNOW ABOUT THIS PROBLEM
