when starting wash cycle the washing machine fills up fine on all settings but the drum is not spinning to wash or dry the load all we get is a clicking sound then eventually the pump will kick in and then the washer machine will turn off

There is a latch you can press of the back of the door release mechanism that is meant for use if the mechanism fails. You should be able to press it if you remove the lid and get your hand down between the front panel and the drum. Once you have the door open, the latch mechanism can be changed by removing the door seal and the 2 screws that retain it.
