renault laguna gearbox trouble?

i have an oil leak at front end of the gearbox and have found a ballbearing in the undercover that seems to have come from the gearbox. the car is driving ok in all gears. 1996 renault laguna 2.2 diesel

my 1995 1.8 manual laguna sometimes goes into gear fine then sometimes u either have to force it in or go into 2 nd gear then back to first

Hi what do you call the front end of the gearbox,the bell housing end near the engine or the end near the inner wing?
How big is the ball bearing?does the car jump out of gear at all?
