the phone had an unexpected trip in washing machine! have let it dry out, but now when i switch it on all that comes up on the screen is "contact service" can any1 help?
oh my god. I cannot believe this. I left my nokia 6300 in my skirt pocket and it went through the washing mashine too! i am having the exact same problem.
i neeeeeed help! and no, i am not going to get a new phone.

I think Peccavi is right, phones don't mind water it's the battery that causes the problem. If you HADN'T replaced the battery/switched it back on then your chances of fixing it would be much greater.

Do not waste time and money attempting to breathe new life into it - get a new one.
