the car will be in 5th right at 3500 rpm it will start to shudder with some loss of power!can anyone tell me what this problem is,thanks

I had the same problem with my Bmw 320 i se and my mechanice told me that the gaskets around cylinders 1 and 4 on the inlet manifold were cracked. He replaced all the gaskets and now is running alot better and smoother than before. The car is alot more responsive when you accelerate and this problem I had fixed a few weeks ago. Good luck
