I have a 00 rover 75 club se 2.5V6.Since I bought the car in august 2007 once or twice a month the car would not start.however i could deal with that but in the last week or two she will not start 80% of the time that i try to start her.i am told my immobiliser is acting up and that its an expensive job to get it fixed.can anyone please tell me is there a way of bypassing the immobiliser or disconnecting it as funds are a bit low at the minute??

Had the same problem with my 2.5. Sometimes it would start Ok when warm others it would just turn over without firing.

The cause was the cam sensor. The original fit is a cam sensor with wiring harness attached. The wiring becomes faulty and as this sensor is only used during the start cycle that is most probably the cause of your problems. I assume, once started the car runs fine in all respects?

The new sensor and wire come as 2 separate parts. Change them, it is relatively cheap to do and hopefully this will solve your problem.
