do you have a overhead shower could it be leaking down the tiles at the side of the bath, maybe a leaky tap

In the centre of the plug hole there is usually a screw to tighten the parts of the assembly together and to compress the rubber seal to prevent leaks. The screw might have slackened off. When tightening do not overtighten as the threads in the nut are usually plastic.

Remove bath panel and dry everything with an old towel.

Then put a drop of water in bath with plug in place and inspect the plug hole underneath using a torch.

If you can not see any weeping water then try using a dry sheet of coloured toilet papet. This will show up any water by changing colour slightly.

If it is the plughole or one of the assocated joints , then you can try tightening it up with gas pliers . If that does not cure it then it will have to be dismanted and reassembled using Boss White or Sanitary Silicon Sealant.

If it`s not the plug hole , then use the dry coloured toilet paper to locate any weeping water or leak.

The plumbing is fairly easy to do but if you are not a D-I-Y`er then either LEARN or get someone in
