Why doesn't my Corsa 1.2 02 plate SXI start?

Help!, My Corsa 1.2 SXI 02 won't start, i noticed the dashboard back light had become dim and few days later the car wouldn't start. i first thought the battery had gone, but all the lights work, stereo central locking etc. The car ticks over starts for a second then cuts out. i'm thinking its something to do with the immobilizer, what can it be? All help is appreciated!

hey Leeps! your absolutely right, thats exactly what the AA guy diagnosed. He simply pushed really hard on my dashboard, making sure he applied pressure evenly as not to break the plastic and it all worked. apparently its a common problem amongst this model.

Any ideas on how to remove the dash? i need to replace the dashboard back lights too as its still very dim.
Cheers

It's the plug on the back of the dials module. Take the dash out, where the dials all are and there's a plug on the back that comes lose and causes this fault. Take it out and jam some foam in there, as the vauxhall dealers do and it'll be fine :)
