I did what most people recommend in these forums (contacted a corgi registered plumber - the guy who normally services my boiler etc. every 6 - 12 months).
He didn't reply to my voice-mail message, so a week later I asked my neighbour (another corgi registered plumber).
He said: "I'll do it sometime this week"
He didn't.
I asked him again.
"Sorry, I was busy. It'll be the week after next, unless XXX rings me."
Charming! I'm bottom of the list & if someone else rings I'll get moved further down the list.

Did it myself.
2 nuts, 10 minutes. Piece of pi$$.

Plumbers? I've $hit 'em.

No doubt there'll be 1 or 2 replies to this post saying "You're lucky to be alive" etc.
'Cuz it takes a qualified expert to turn 2 nuts ... doesn't it?

I thought thermocouples were exempt from regs, says so on packaging?

You get a corgie registered engineer to do it or you might just wake up with the angels.
