how do I open Electrolux 1200 case - I can't see how to unlock and remove slide rails.

Open bag compartment door, stick a flathead screwdriver in the gap between the side strip and the cord reel cover and gently tap screwdriver with a hammer in the direction of the bag door to get it started. Do this for both sides. Once started you should be able to pull the strips out by hand. Voila!
