How to remove steel blade boss from Mountfield M3?

My 1984 Mountfield M3 has a Tecumseh BV153 engine and the blade boss on the end of the crankshaft is steel not alloy. It has so far resisted my efforts with a gear puller so any advice on how to shift it would be most welcome.

Thanks Phil, that worked perfectly; it's off!!

I assume you are using a puller which is bearing against the blade bolt temporarily re-installed (loosly)?

If so, put as much tension on it as you dare, then apply heat (via a blowlamp) to the blade adapter.

Only ever had one fail to come off in 20+ years. In that case I had to resort to a power hacksaw and split it.
