You may find that the brake pads are fine, the 2 push pins in the caliper that push the outer pad against the disc may be siezed up.
Freeing the pins up will involve taking the caliper off.....It is held by 2 long slender screws that are easy to shear off ( as I found out :(........ ) so plenty of penatrating oil before you start heaving on the spanner.

yes you can replace the brake pads. just go to the partsandservice website and follow the promopts and you will be able to get the correct pads for you murray.

hope this helps you:

Not familliar with this particular model, but if it has a transaxle-mounted disc brake, it can be adjusted by tightening up the 13MM or 1/2" nut in the centre or the brake assembly.

If it IS this type, replacement brake pads are available.
