NO POWER TO HEATER ELEMENT ARISTON LSV 66?

THERMOSTAT IS CONTINUOUS
VOLTAGE TO ELEMENT IS 40 VOLTS NO LOAD
ZERO VOLTS WITH ELEMENT CONNECTED
WILL NOT HEAT WITH ANY CYCLE
ROTARY SWITCH STALLS AT HEAT CYCLE
NUDGING ROTARY SWITCH DOES NOT SWITCH POWER TO ELEMENT

Thanks for your pointers, heater element continous, cleared calcium build up, still no joy. Have noticed the water level does not cover the heater element!

have you checked the element itself? simply remove its power leads and do a continuity test. The heater wont work if the machine isnt filling correctly. Check the the sensor bottle at the base of the machine for blockages.If OK then check the water inlet solenoid valves.On old machines they can get furred up with limescale and reduce feed into the drum. If ok then the fault will most likely be in the programme unit.
