Works fine until I stand on it?

I purchased a used freespirit 122 tread mill. When viewing it, it worked fine it tilted, spead up seemed to be in great working order. When I brought it home and got on it ready to run. It slowed down to a slow walking pace. It also gives off a smell when running for a few minutes. Is this something that can be repaired?

You shouldn't think that it needs repaired!it's going to cost you,get in touch with the seller and explain that since you got it home it isn't working properly, the smell maybe burning rubber,is it sitting nice and level on the floor?CONTACT seller FIRST be nice explain that it seems wrong,he or she may be able to help you.If they don't then you could take legal action, the goods have to be fit for what they were intended, private sale or not.
