Engine Fault light problem on Citroen Xsara Picasso HDI 2.o?

Hi, I keep getting the Engine Warning light coming on in my Xsara Picasso HDI 2.0. It resolves itself after about 100 miles and them returns again. Citroen garage said nothimg seems to be wrong then says I need my glow plugs changed. Just had timimg belt changed after 85,000 miles (04 plate). Any help or info very gratefully received.....

my engine fault light came on so i took it to the garage who read the fault codes which where glow plug fault
[ glow plugs not needed above -4c so ignore that one ]
brake relay switch and anti polution valve
garage replaced the brake relay and the light went out however it came back on 8 miles latter returned to the garage where the engine code where read again.
this time just the glow plugs and the valve came up code was p400.
changed the valve and light stayed off after about 25 miles it was back car drives well when warmed up sometimes get a little vibration when cold but not allways .
its going back to the garage but i aint hopefull

it has some sort of fuel management, so if you try and save petrol or diesel the engine light comes on, if you rev and put your foot down, the light will go off in a day or 2.

Hi I have exactly the same problem - had glow plugs replaced and circuit relay, problem exactly the same. Do you know any more now?

You can reset allmost any "engine fault" warning, by removing the cables beside the engine sensor unit and reseating them. if the fault goes away and stays away the its a false alarm.

used to have a dispatch HDI 110 with the same engine & i was told the HDIs dont have glow plugs . my engine management light came on twice during ownership & was the throttle position sensor both times ! £50 fitted it myself in 2mins . trouble is HDIs are so complicated it could be one of many things . dont bother with citroen dealers & take it to a diesel /electric specialist who know what they are talking about.
