where is the carb on the sears 5.0 lawnmower?

Lawn mower will not start. Doesn't seem to be getting gas. Your answers on how to get the lawnmower to start were great, but i don't know how to get to the carberator. Where is the carb on the sears 5.0? What do I have to take apart.

If the engine is a Briggs and Stratton, the carb is bolted to the top of the gas tank. Removal is simple. There should be a tab bolted on the head that is attached to the front of the gas tank and a bolt that is near the top rear of the tank. Remove the governor springs and pull the entire assembly away from the engine. There are four screws holding the carb to the tank. Go to a lawnmower parts store and buy the rebuild kit using the numbers off the front of the engine, Model Type and code. Also dispose of all old fuel and clean the carb inside and out with Gumout.
