Problem with BT Synergy 2150 Cordless Dect Phone?

I have a few problems with my BT Synergy 2150 DECT phone.
It has got only one handset. The questions are
1. When base station is connected to the mains, the 'IN-USE' led is flashing continously, even though no calls are made from it.
2. After inserting a new battery in handset, still there is NO display on the Handset.
3. It seems no signal between base station and handset. This is true because when I press 'Page' button, there is no beep sound on handset.

Kindly answer my questions.

Thanks & Regards

When you changed the battery in the phone. Did you turn the handset back on ? Press power/secrecy button, middle button, bottom row. The phone should beep twice then display "Searching" and then shows the standby screen. The "in use" LED is flashing as this shows the base unit is trying to register with the Handset. One it registers it should stop flashing. If the phone does not switch on then I think its time to throw it in the bin and buy a new one.
