Ariston AWD12 Margherita: keeps cycling through programs?

Once switched on it will fill with water, then stop and pump out as well as cycling through the programs. What is wrong

p.s. error codes are here:

http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/help/fix-it-yourself/fault-codes/laundry-fault-codes/3050-hotpoint-a-indesit-washing-machine-fault-codes.html

this relates to error 7 and 8.

how to know your error code?

when your dial keeps spinning it will flash the power light. it will flash so many times then stop then start again and stop so on. count the flashes between each pause. and that is your error code.

and im just an average joe not a washer machine tech!!! but thanks to google and a persistence and a stubbornness.......lol

after 2 days of messing around here is what i found.

pressure sensor. may not need to be changed. there are 3 scews on the back of it. one is deep. the other two are not. just give them around 4 turns clockwise for the right screw and anti clockwise for the middle screw but not the deeper screw on the left as this runs flow just the 2 higher screws. and try again. maybe be 3 turns or even 5 but 4 worked for me just fine after trial and error :) basically they tell the pressure switch when to kick in and out and sometimes it just need to be collaborated after extensive use.

dont get me wrong. the middle screw may need to be more out than in. but the right screw more out.

also as for some saying to reset the washer heres a better way....
wait until it keeps clicking. then. turn off by off button quik. set cycle to spin but makesure dryers not set. turn back on quick. it will blink as a freak for a while before stable for the cycle and knows it needs to empty first. but should proper drain and finish the cycle. after that the whole cycle should be reset. as for turning off and on and setting the dial to end of cycle dont always work as it will try to return to the previous cycle. even unplugging the board etc may not work. but confuse it a little and it does!

p.s. do it with the cycle you originally got stuck on!!!

had mine 10 years now. only ever replaced a belt!!! last 5 yrs had to have it appart every few months tho but hey...saved me hundreds!

If the drum does not turn it might be the carbon brushes on the motor. Mine had similar problem but would not fill or empty.

If the program dial just spins round.. check the POWER LED - it will flash a certain number of times - each number represents a different type of fault - it should tell you whats wrong - For example, 2 flashes of the led means that it cant see the main motor (meaning you probably need new brushes), I think 8 flashes means that the TOC temperature sensor is faulty (or maybe its the heater element - cant remeber!). Anyhoos, take a look then do a search for that number of flashes... A good place to look is the forums on ukwhitegoods.co.uk - lots of answers there

Check the pressure switch -the system that determines correct water level in the drum. Its a round item about 3 inches across with several wires connected, it sits under the top cover. Its an air operated switch which tells the machine water has reached the correct level. Disconnect the thin rubber pipe from the switch and blow down through it to clear any blockage. Switch itself may be faulty but its more likely the pipe is blocked.
Also check the filter - generally located behind a panel at the foot of the machine. Some are obvious like little square hatches and some are hidden behind the trim panel at the foot of the machine. Once panel is removed the filter should be visible. Its generally a circular plastic fitting which unscrews in an anticlockwise direction. Some hotpoint, indesit and ariston filters are located in the big black sump hose (the one that leaves the bottom of the outer drum and connects to the pump). Remove the back cover, locate hose, remove the tensioner clip by squeezing the tabs together, remove the hose, take out filter and clean.
