Boiler servicing - is it worth it?

Hi, I'm trying to find out what is actually covered in a boiler service? Is it really worth doing or do boilers pretty much look after themselves these days?

yes as if the is any trouble a good engineer should find it before i causes a problem also gas eng council and corgi recomend servicing annually to keep the boiler working effeciently i have come accross many boilers not serviced and most are in a bad or dangerous way so please get it serviced for safety and economy in the long term

Lets face it the newer boilers simply dont get taken to bits anymore.Even British gas wave their gas analyser at most of them and hardly touch them. Most balanced flued or fan assisted boilers look after themselves. It is the back boiler/conventional flued boilers that need more attention as the filters inside them get linted up.If your boiler is working fine and is burning with a nice blue flame leave it alone as taking them to pieces can cause problems. If it does breal down then its a repair thats needed.I find some people try to ask for a service when in fact the appliance has broken down, especially combi boilers.

Hi julie:
Everything needs looking after especially the things we depand on. boilers now days feel it more,as they are more sensitive. too many things to mention in regards to what,s covered in a full service, but few hints for you are here, good clean up, check for damaged seals and washers, check and adjust your gas pressures and check for correct operation of flue system and all the controles. hope this has answered your question. Its always a good idea to get some 1 in for an expert advice. :)))
