bernina 530-2sewing machine motor?

Why is the suppressor on the motor of the Bernina 530-2 Record not needed?
My machine will not start when I put pressure on the knee
control,it just hums and I have turn the wheel by hand to get it to move.It will work after awhile, but sounds laboured

Hello Lena,
The suppressor is what it says, it is there to suppress interference on things like radio and television, these items have suppressors built in and with the technology suppressors are not needed in machine motors that is why you can discard them if they burn out, with Bernina sometimes they wire the suppressor into the motor and forms part of the working part and it is not always possible to discard it, you will probably have to buy a new one and fit it, if the motor is labouring and struggling you may need a new motor which is very expensive.
