The phone itself works i.e incoming and out going calls etc but every time I access my texts either in inbox,outbox or sent messages then a message comes up and says "operation failed" and I cant receive any texts .Ive tried wiping the sim card and taking the battery out both when the phone is switched on and off but no joy ...any ideas? My phone is a sony k8501..........Thanks

Go on the Sony Ericsson website and download the Update Service- I had the same problem with my Games and Applications- I updated my software at least 15 times and it kept telling me I already had the latest software- I almost gave up hope.... did it a moment ago just for one last go and my phone is completely fixed!!! So don't give up if the software update doesn't work first time!!! x

This is a SOFTWARE problem, i've seen this before many times, quite popular with Nokias too if they are high spec.

Try resetting your Sony ericsson in settings to see if it clears it but back up your photos onto a memory card first & contacts etc.. If that doesn't work you will need to have the software upgraded.

This also can happen if your inbox/sent box etc are extremely full so if you haven't deleted them from the phone itself get rid of the lot.

A phone as new as that may still be under warranty too so check that 1st before you part with money at a phone shop/repair centre.
