Peugeot 307 HDi 110 ABS warning keeps coming on?

The ABS warning light has been coming on more frequently over the last few weeks and is now on permanently. The ABS pump is NOT coming on with braking, just the light. I have been told by a mechanic who changed the alternator recently (seperate fault) that the code read 'near side rear sensor fault' which I have since changed (£28 from Peogeot) and cleaned the actuator ring with WD & a toothbrush. The light remains on. Could it need resetting before I know if the new sensor has cleared the fault. Incidently, I suspect there was nothing wrong with the sensor as the electrical resistance both ways was the same on the old sensor & new. Anyone know what is my next best move? Thanks

can anybody tell me what is wrong with my abs on my 307 the dash light is on and the stop light is flashing away a message on the comp says abs fault and then displays braking fault any ideas

the abs motor is done, you need a replacement motor. You can get one at a scrapyard for about £40.00. A new one will cost funny money. J.ROBERTSON.

Thanks very much for the advice. There was a bit of rust which I have scraped off and doesn't seem to be affecting the gap too much - say nearer 3mm than 2mm which I gather 2mm is recommended. I have got to the 35 pin plug which connects to the pump with the intention of testing wiring to all 4 sensors with a wiring diagram I got off the net however the plug terminals are tiny with no way of getting my meter probes in there. I did see the loom which disappears over the silencer shield and thought that may cause problems due to heat and or chafing. Will I need to reset the ECU before I can progress with the fault or may it clear itself if whatever I have done has cured the fault? I think I will take the wheel off again tomorrow and trace the loom over the shield and while I'm at it slip a fine washer in behind the sensor. Cheers.

1st did you clean the area where the sensor sits as large amounts of rust builds up stopping the sensor fitting correctly causing the air gap between sensor and ring to be too big the rust is hard to knock off 2nd sometimes the twisted wires above rear exhaust silencer heat shield become damaged and corroded the abs pump will not work while there is a fault on the system
