Hi,
Not had any experience with this particular car, but could offer a few tips.
1) Check your carb is clean, as if it's clogged could interfear with the mix of fuel and air.
2) I had similar with an old Astra, and found replacing the coil helped as the sparks weren't getting enough power before. But can test the coil with a multi meter if you have one?
3) Does your car have an auto choke? If so that could be stuck shut?
