How can I get the bobbin to wind on my singer 7422?

I have a brand new singer 7422 and the bobbin just will not wind. I put the bobbin on the pin and move it to the right (threaded up as instructed) and attempt to wind but it stops after just 2 rotations. The needle does not disengage and when it stops all the stitch pattern lights come on and flash and it gives some warning beeps. To clear this I have to switch the machine off and on again. The machine is stitching correctly just unable to wind the bobbin. Please help!

I am having the same problem with my Singer 7422. Have you ever discovered how to fix it?

There may be some residue on the winder rubber which is quite common, the problem you have is getting to it, if the stop motion does not disengage to stop the needle then the top shaft is probably dry of oil, I would suggest that if the machine is brand new you send it back for replacement.
