McCulloch chainsaw question?

I have a new McCulloch 16" chainsaw that seems to have a few problems (is it user?):

1. Sawing branches seems to take too much effort. My little experience with chainsaws tells me something is wrong. I have adjusted the chain tension with little result. The saw is too new (I would think) for sharpening to be an issue.

2. My blade smokes (heavily) when in use. The model has an automatic oiler & it seems to be working fine, but the blade itself smokes when I am cutting.

I am not familiar with McCulloch & would appreciate any help anyone could provide. I keep thinking it must be something simple that I am overlooking, but no clue so far.

i would suggest you have the chain on back to front/ even a bluntish chain is hard to make smoke if its rotating in the correct direction.

Is the chain on the right way? The cutters must face in direction of rotation. Check your instruction manual.

how to adj the carb to run the best that it can

your chain requires sharpening badly, obviously with little experience of chain saws i would recomend you take it to a reputable dealer to have it sharpened otherwise you can ruin your chain if you do not know how to do it properly.
